sometimes the world asks only that we notice
Over the Somosomo Strait, Fiji, a swamp harrier looks for lunch.

In Fiji the swamp harrier is called manu levu. I see it most days making its rounds. Though it likes the high altitude getting a close angle is not always easy. Even with my strong 200-500 lens it is a challenge. In Fiji the humidity makes for tough shooting and being sharp. This time it worked not too badly.
Over the Somosomo Strait, Fiji, a playful dance of aerial expertise.

This female leading and male trailing swamp harriers were enjoying a full sun and wind aerial dance. They had swooped up together from the Strait. I thought at first it was a goshawk and harrier and I would be treated to a display of talons. Though this was an equal delight. They rose and fell in sync. When the female began the barrel roll, the male was right with her. After a short burst of acrobatics, he left for the coast and she headed back into the mountain.
